The Job:

Our Corporate Chief Engineers Office - Class Standards team is looking for a Product Owner to work from our Headquarters Office in Houston, Texas! This person will be responsible for maintaining software development and technical publishing for ABS Rules and Guides!

What You'll Do:

ABS Rules and Guides are key industry resources, derived from principles of naval architecture, marine engineering, and related disciplines. Currently, ABS has more than 200 Rules, Guides, and Guidance Notes, and the company is hiring a product owner to innovate and modernize the client experience for this core business resource. This is an exciting and highly visible position that can have a major impact on organizational success. The ideal candidate will be an innovator, team collaborator, and a detail-oriented program manager who enjoys bringing important enterprise solutions to fruition.

Other Tasks:

  • Product owner for software development and technical publishing for ABS Rules and Guides
  • Collects, documents, and manages functional and business requirements for ABS Rules and Guides technical publishing and software development
  • Understands and supports the tools and functionality and core business requirements to ensure value with the development work
  • Serves as an ABS liaison to collaborate and interface with several core members of the team including Digital Marketing and IMS
  • Passion for exploring and creating novel and optimal software solutions to support ABS clients that will differentiate ABS Rules and Guides
  • Understands broader roadmap of future technology and identifies ways to leverage them within the platform
  • Nimble at offering ideas, seeking team input, and developing new solutions with out-of-box critical thinking
  • Expert communication skills with cross-functional teams, including the use of PowerPoint and project management tools
  • Ability to prioritize according to program business objectives and track and drive a large project toward success.


Requirements

What You'll Need:

  • Five (5) or more years of industry experience
  • Three (3) years experience working with XML technical publishing solutions such as SDL Tridion Docs, Adobe FrameMaker, or PTC Arbortext, etc.
  • Experience as product owner during the full software development life cycle for large-scale enterprise application launches.
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university or equivalent industry experience. Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering degree preferred.

Certified Product Owner such as CSPO

Due to the scope of work, you'll need to be:

A citizen of the USA.

Reporting Relationships:

You'll report to the VP of Class Standards. May have Individual Contributor direct reports. 

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary. Once in a while exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
